Doughty, Dr., "The Canadian Archives", Proceedings and Transactions of the Royal Society of Canada, Series 3, Volume 1, Meeting of May 1907, Ottawa: Royal Society of Canada, 1907., pp. XLV-XLVIII.

Originally published in Proceedings and Transactions of the Royal Society of Canada as "Appendix B, The Canadian Archives", a part of the "Report of Council" for the RSC (Royal Society of Canada) May 1907 meeting. In this report (p. X) under "Section 13. Government Work, Literary and Scientific", it was acknowledged that Dr. Doughty had submitted an abstract which highlighted the work of the archives and was included as Appendix B to the Council report. Authorship of the archives report, however, was not identified in the report itself. The archives report consisted of 2 pages of text (pp. XVII-XVIII), which provided an overview of the Archives Report for the Year 1905 and its appended volumes, news on the archives' move to its new building, and a table which showed the increase in the archives' collections of historical materials from 1904 to 1907.

Subsequent to the archives report being published in the Series 3, Volume 1 of the Proceedings and Transactions of the RSC, it was reprinted in 1908 as a single item. The cover of this publication was printed with the following information: "From the Transactions of the Royal Society of Canada, Third Series--1907-1908, Volume 1, The Canadian Archives, Ottawa, Printed for the author by the Royal Society of Canada, 1908".

A bound copy of the Transactions and Proceedings of the Royal Society of Canada, Series 3, Volume 1, containing the Report of Council and Appendix B, "The Canadian Archives", held by Queen's University was reviewed; as well as, an individual copy of The Canadian Archives, Ottawa: Printed for the author by the Royal Society of Canada, 1908, held by LAC (OCLC #1007265310).
