Memoirs of the Right Honourable Sir John Alexander Macdonald by Joseph Pope was originally published in 1894 by Musson Book Co., Toronto; by E. Arnold, London; and J. Durie, Ottawa.

In 1930, The Musson Book Company Ltd., Toronto, published the Memoirs by Joseph Pope with a "Preface" by A. G. Doughty, and also with "Introduction. To First Edition of 1894. By Baroness Macdonald of Earnscliffe", and "Preface to First Edition" by Joseph Pope, Ottawa, 1894. Also in 1930, Oxford University Press, Canadian Branch, Toronto published the same edition containing the "Preface" by A. G. Doughty, as well as the 1894 Introduction and 1894 Preface.

The Memoirs by Joseph Pope with the 1930 "Preface" by A.G. Doughty were again published in 1947 by Musson, Toronto. Then Oxford University Press published the Memoirs by Joseph Pope in 1971 but this printing kept true to the 1894 original printing and did not include a preface by A.G. Doughty.
