The manuscript, Selections from the Poems of A.G.D., was illuminated and written by Arthur G. Doughty. There appears to be only one surviving copy of this publication, which is currently held at Brown University (OCLC #56751469); a microform copy (OCLC #56751475) is also available at Brown University.

The featured poem was "The Rose and the Lily", whose title also appears on the spine of the volume held by Brown University. The cataloguing description and the digital images from Brown University do not indicate the length of the manuscript poem. The poem, "The Rose and the Lily (written for music)" was published in Nugae Canorae, 1897. A comparison of the digital images from Brown University to the poem in Nugae Canorae revealed that the two poems were essentially the same with the exception of a few word changes.
