Doughty, Arthur G., "Sources for the History of the Catholic Church in the Public Archives of Canada", Catholic Historical Review, vol. 19, no. 2 (July) 1933, pp. 148-166.

This paper was read at the Thirteenth Annual Meeting of the American Catholic Historical Association, Toronto, 28 December, 1932.

AGD provided a survey of the numerous records documenting the history of the Catholic Church in relation to Canada beginning with the French regime, continuing through to the early 1900s.  AGD divided the records into three classes: public or government records illustrating the relationship between the Church and the State; archives of religious orders documenting their aims and activities; and parish registers.

Also reviewed was the correspondence between AGD and Dr. Guilday, editor of the Catholic Historical Review, in the Arthur G. Doughty fonds (LAC MG 30 D26).
