Doughty, A.G., "Verses and Versions", The Canadian Magazine of politics, science, art and literature, vol. 5, no. 5 (September) 1895, pp. 476-478.

A review by A.G. Doughty of the book of poetry, Verses and Versions, by George Murray, Montreal: W. Foster Brown & Co., 1894, in which he described this work as a "volume of stately and admirable verse", and "bearing the stamp of originality" (p. 476). A.G. Doughty concluded that the volume contained “many really splendid passages” (p. 477).

A.G. Doughty received some publicity for this review as excerpts were printed in The Gazette, Montreal (14 Sept. 1895, p. 14.) under the title “Echoes of the Press, False Criticism of Verse”. A.G. Doughty wrote the review during the same period in which he was immersed in writing and publishing poetry.  During the 1890s, up to and including 1895, he published several individual poems, a book of select poems, and 2 illuminated manuscripts of poetry.
